“Where do you think he is?” Seojun asked, his voice laced with concern. “Did he go missing like the last officer?”
“Well, if they can harm him, doesn’t it mean they can reach us too?” Adam pointed out.
“It’s like they’re targeting them in their own spaces,” Seojun added. “The last agent went missing from his own home, and now Bimo’s gone missing from his own space.”
The group fell silent, contemplating the ominous implications. But then Adira spoke up, her voice steady.
“I don’t think they’re going to come after us.”
The room fell silent again, but this time it was because everyone’s eyes were fixed on Adira, their faces etched with surprise and curiosity. Unspoken questions hung in the air: Why did she think that? What made her so certain?
Sensing the unasked question and the silence, she spoke. “I think he wants to challenge us. He’s always one step ahead of us, which is evident since our data was leaked even before we arrived. So, if he still hasn’t made a move, then I believe he wants to play with us. It’s a deadly game, I suppose, where he’s making the rules, and we’ve unknowingly entered his trap from the very beginning. He’s playing us like pawns in a game of chess. Whatever we’ve been thinking or doing, it’s all been predetermined by him.”
As each word left her mouth, the others found themselves contemplating the gravity of their situation and the potential risks they were already facing.
“What are we going to do now?” Alaric asked, raking a hand through his hair.
“Let’s revisit the site and talk to people close to Armo and Bimo,” Jasper commanded. “Maybe someone who knew the previous agents can provide us with some leads.”
The group decided to split up and gather information about the agents. Alaric and Adira teamed up to find information about the last agent, Armo. Meanwhile, Jasper and Adam went to gather intelligence on Bim, while Seojun stayed back to look for their social data.
Adira and Alaric began their search at Armo’s house.
As they searched the house, Adira and Alaric found themselves in the same hidden room they had discovered earlier. The room was small, with walls lined with shelves containing various gadgets, files, and maps.
Adira’s eyes scanned the shelves, searching for anything that might have been missed before. Alaric, meanwhile, began to examine the maps and files more closely.
After a few moments, Alaric spoke up. “Adira, come look at this.”
Adira walked over to where Alaric was standing. He was holding up a large world map, with several points marked on it.
“What do you make of this?” Alaric asked, his eyes scanning the map.
Adira’s eyes widened as she took in the markings. “These symbols…I’ve seen them before. They’re some sort of code.”
Alaric nodded. “I think you’re right. Let’s see if we can decipher it.”
As they began to study the map, Adira noticed another map on the shelf – a detailed map of the city they were in. Several locations were marked, each with a small note or symbol. One location, however, stood out – a small red dot marked on the outskirts of the city.
Adira’s heart quickened. “Alaric, look at this.”
Alaric’s eyes followed hers to the red dot. “What do you think it means?” he asked, his voice low and thoughtful.
Adira’s eyes locked onto the symbol. “I think it means we have a lead.”
Alaric’s eyes narrowed as he studied the map. “This place is on the outskirts of the city, near the industrial district. A perfect place that had been abandoned for years.”
Adira’s mind was racing. “Do you think this could be a connection to Armo’s case? Or maybe even Bimo’s disappearance?”
Alaric nodded. “It’s definitely worth investigating. Let’s make a note of the address and check it out.”
Alaric was already typing the address into his phone.
“Ready to check it out?” he asked, looking up at her.
Adira nodded, her heart pounding with anticipation. “Let’s do it.”
Jasper and Adam searched every nook and cranny of Bimo’s house, looking for any clue that might lead them to their missing friend. After what felt like hours of searching, Adam finally let out a triumphant cry.
“Jasper, come check this out!” he exclaimed, holding up a small, rolled-up map.
Jasper hurried over to Adam’s side, his eyes scanning the map. It appeared to be a hand-drawn map of the city, with several locations marked.
“This looks like it might be a lead,” Jasper said, his voice filled with excitement. “Let’s see if we can match up these locations with anything we already know.”
Adam nodded, and together they began to study the map. As they pored over the markings, Jasper’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Adam, look at this,” he said, pointing to a small symbol on the map. “This is the same symbol we found on Armo’s files.”
Adam’s eyes lit up with understanding. “This has to be more than just a coincidence,” he said. “I think we’re onto something big here.”
Jasper and Adam exchanged a determined glance as they set out to investigate the sites marked on the map they had found at Bimo’s house.
As they navigated the winding streets, the GPS led them to a dilapidated building on the outskirts of town. The once-majestic hospital now stood as a haunting relic, its faded sign creaking in the wind.
As Jasper and Adam entered the old hospital building, they couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease. The air inside was thick with dust, and the flickering fluorescent lights overhead cast eerie shadows on the walls.
Jasper’s eyes scanned the dimly lit hallway, and suddenly, he spotted two familiar figures standing near the nurse’s station. Adira and Alaric were examining a map, their faces intent on their task.
Jasper’s eyes met Adam’s, and they exchanged a silent understanding. They crept forward, trying not to make a sound, and cleared their throats to announce their presence.
Adira and Alaric spun around, their eyes widening in surprise. “Jasper! Adam!” Adira exclaimed, her voice barely above a whisper. “What are you doing here?”
Jasper held up the map they had found at Bimo’s house. “We found this map at Bimo’s place. It led us here.”
Alaric’s eyes narrowed. “We found a similar map at Armo’s house. It looks like we’re all on the same trail.”
The four of them stood there for a moment, their eyes locked on each other. Then, without a word, they nodded in unison and began to move forward, their flashlights casting a weak beam of light into the darkness.
As they ventured deeper into the abandoned hospital, they stumbled upon a door with a sign that read “Authorized Personnel Only”. The door was locked, but Alaric quickly worked his magic, and the door creaked open.
Beyond the door lay a narrow stairway, leading down into darkness. The air grew colder, and the silence was oppressive.
“What’s down there?” Adam whispered, his voice trembling slightly.
Adira’s eyes locked onto the stairway. “I think we’re about to find out.”
As the gunshot echoed through the hallway, the four of them exchanged a tense glance. Adira’s eyes locked onto the door, now slightly ajar, and she nodded curtly.
Without a word, they pushed the door open and stepped inside, their flashlights casting eerie shadows on the walls. The air inside was stale and musty, and the silence was oppressive.
As they moved deeper into the room, they were met with a sight that made their blood run cold. The space was eerily familiar, with rows of rusty medical equipment and worn hospital beds. It was identical to the setting in the video they had received from Armo.
Jasper’s eyes scanned the room, his mind racing with the implications. “This is it,” he whispered, his voice barely audible. “This is where that experiment was held.”
Adira’s jaw clenched, her eyes locked onto the far corner of the room. “We need to search every inch of this place,” she said, her voice firm and resolute.
As they began to move through the room, their flashlights casting an eerie glow, they stumbled upon a series of cryptic symbols etched into the walls. They were the same symbols they had found on the map, and on the video from Armo.
Suddenly, a faint noise echoed through the room, making them all freeze. It was a low hum, followed by the sound of footsteps, growing louder with each passing second.
Their hearts racing, they exchanged a tense glance. They knew they had to move, and fast. But where could they go?
They all tried to hide behind a few things
the gates opened and Seojun was the one to enter.
“So,this is the place.” Seojun said in a whisper.
“Let me call the other’s.” He said and called the jasper who then came out of his hidding place and greeted Seojun.
“So we all get the same location?” Adira commented.” Isn’t it strange?”
As the gates creaked open, the group held their collective breath, hiding behind various objects in the dimly lit room. Seojun, his eyes scanning the space, was the first to enter. He whispered to himself, “So, this is the place.”
He paused, his hand reaching for his phone. “Let me call the others,” he murmured, his voice barely audible.
Seojun’s eyes widened in surprise as Jasper emerged from his hiding spot. “Jasper! I was just about to call you,” he exclaimed, a hint of relief in his voice.
As Jasper approached, the others began to emerge from their hiding places, their faces etched with a mix of curiosity and caution. Adira’s eyes narrowed as she gazed at Seojun, her voice laced with skepticism. “So we all get the same location?” she commented. “Isn’t it strange?”
Seojun’s brow furrowed as he looked at everyone standing in front of him. “So we all got the same conclusion?” he asked, his voice filled with a sense of wonder.
Adam nodded, a hint of a smile on his face. “I guess so!” he commented.
Jasper’s eyes locked onto Seojun, his expression serious. “How did you get to know about here?” he asked, his voice low and urgent.
Seojun took a deep breath, his eyes scanning the group before focusing on Jasper. “I was checking about the location Armo had visited,” he explained, “and this one was one of the places he had visited a few hours before his disappearance. It was quite suspicious, too.”
Alaric’s voice was laced with caution as he advised, “If Armo had already visited and they had captured him, then I think this place isn’t useful to them any longer. We should leave.”
Adam nodded in agreement. “Yeah, you’re right.”
However, Jasper’s expression was resolute. “But I think we should look around. I’m sure we would find some clue.”
Without further discussion, the group began to search the place, scouring every corner for any details that might lead them to Armo. Alaric was examining one of the walls, his eyes scanning the surface with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion.
Suddenly, he stumbled upon something strange. As he reached out to touch it, a section of the wall slid open, revealing a hidden gate. “Look what I found!” Alaric shouted, his voice echoing through the room.
The others rushed to join him, their faces filled with a mix of excitement and trepidation. They exchanged curious glances, their eyes locked on the open gate.
With caution, they decided to enter the gate, their hearts pounding with anticipation. Alaric, however, hesitated. “I’ll wait here,” he said, his voice firm. “To make sure nothing goes south.”
The others nodded, understanding the need for caution. With a deep breath, they stepped through the gate, leaving Alaric to stand watch.
As they descended the long staircase behind the wall, the air grew thick with anticipation. Jasper led the way, his torch casting flickering shadows on the walls. One by one, they reached the bottom of the stairs, their eyes adjusting to the dim light.
Jasper’s torch beam danced across the hallway, revealing a row of cells stretching out before them. He froze, his heart racing, as he shone his light on one of the cells. A small figure sat huddled in the corner, eyes wide with fear.
Jasper’s mouth hung open in shock as the others gathered around him, their faces mirroring his horror. Seojun’s eyes scanned the cells, his voice barely above a whisper. “Oh my god…they’re all here.”
Adira’s eyes widened as she rushed to the next cell, her torch beam revealing another familiar face. “It’s Emily!” she exclaimed, her voice trembling with emotion.
Adam’s face lit up with hope as he checked the next cell. “And there’s Michael!” he cried, his voice filled with relief.
As they continued to search the cells, they found all of the missing kids, each one huddled in fear, but alive. The group exchanged tearful glances, their hearts swelling with a mix of emotions – relief, joy, and a deep-seated anger towards those responsible for this heinous crime.
Jasper’s voice thundered through the hallway, echoing off the cold stone walls. “Let’s call for help and move these kids to the nearby hospital! We need to check if they’re fine!”
The others sprang into action, their faces set with determination. Seojun quickly pulled out his phone and dialed the emergency number, while Adira and Adam began to carefully escort the children out of their cells.
Within minutes, the sound of sirens filled the air, and soon the hallway was flooded with paramedics, police officers, and medical personnel. The children were quickly loaded into ambulances, where they received immediate medical attention.
As the paramedics worked to stabilize the children, the police officers began to secure the area, cordoning off the hallway and surrounding buildings. Jasper, Seojun, Adira, Alaric and Adam stood by, watching as the children were whisked away to safety.
Adira’s words cut through the sense of relief and accomplishment, serving as a stark reminder that their mission was far from over. “We had saved the children, but still the culprit is missing,” she said, her eyes scanning the surrounding area as if searching for any sign of the perpetrator.
Seojun’s face darkened, his jaw clenched in determination. “We need to find him before it’s too late,” he growled, his voice low and menacing.
Adam’s eyes widened as he exclaimed, “And none of the people we saved are the one whom we fight! Where can they be?”
Jasper’s eyes narrowed, his mind racing with possibilities. “Where would they go? What would they do next?”
The group fell silent, each member lost in their own thoughts as they tried to piece together the culprit’s next move. The only sound was the distant hum of the ambulances, a reminder of the lives they had just saved, and the lives that were still at risk.
As they made their way back to their quarters, the group couldn’t shake off the feeling of unease that lingered within them. Despite having rescued the children, they knew that their mission was far from over.
Once they arrived at their quarters, Jasper immediately reached for the secure communication device to contact headquarters. “We need to inform them about everything that’s happened,” he said, his voice firm.
Seojun nodded in agreement, taking a seat next to Jasper. “We’ll need to provide them with a detailed report, including the location of the hideout and the rescue operation.”
Adira and Adam sat down nearby, listening intently as Jasper began to brief headquarters on their situation. The conversation was tense and serious, with Jasper providing a step-by-step account of their mission so far.
A week later…..
Adam slammed his fist on the table, frustration etched on his face. “Dammit! Even after searching for the whole week, we didn’t get to know about that bastard who was behind all this.”
Jasper’s expression turned grim as he straightened his posture, his eyes fixed on some point beyond the table. “We can’t do anything else now. The new team will be here anytime, and we have to hand over this case to them.”
Adira’s voice was a soothing balm to the tension in the room. “It’s okay, guys. At least we were able to save those kids.”
Alaric’s gaze narrowed, his eyes piercing. “Did anyone of them speak?”
Adam shook his head. “No, they didn’t. The doctors said that the kids had received a great shock, and none of them is able to speak.”
Seojun’s brows shot up, a hint of skepticism in his voice. “None of them? I think we should recheck. Maybe it’s because of a drug given by the culprit.”
The room fell silent, each member of the team lost in their own thoughts. The possibility that the kids’ silence might be more than just a result of trauma hung in the air.
The conference room fell silent as a booming voice echoed through the space. “That’s not your concern anymore.” The team turned to face the newcomer, their eyes narrowing as they took in the stranger’s imposing presence. Adam was the first to speak up, his voice firm. “And you are?”
The man smiled, a hint of confidence in his eyes. “I am the new head of the team working on this case. I’m Arnor Wallet.” Arnor’s gaze swept the room, his eyes lingering on each member of the team before coming to rest on Jasper. “And this is my team,” he said, gesturing to the few men standing behind him. “So now, please hand over the case to us.”
Jasper’s eyes narrowed slightly as he took in Arnor’s words, his expression unreadable. He seemed to be sizing up the new team leader, his gaze lingering on Arnor’s confident smile.
“Where is the proof?” Adira asked, a smirk playing on her lips.
Arnor’s gaze caught Adira’s smirk, and a smug look appeared on his face. “Here!” he said, handing a stack of documents to Jasper.
Jasper’s eyes scanned the papers, his expression unreadable. After a moment, he looked up, his voice tinged with reluctance. “Sure. Let’s go.”
As Jasper spoke, his face clenched, a mixture of frustration and disappointment etched on his features. The other team members exchanged glances, their faces mirroring Jasper’s frustration.
With a reluctant look on their faces, the group began to hand over the documents, their movements slow and deliberate. It was clear that they were not ready to let go of the case, not yet.
“So, Adira, you lost to me again,” Arnor mocked, a smug smile spreading across his face.
Adira’s eyes flashed with anger, but she kept her cool, her voice steady. “I would lose when you would find the culprit,” she retorted, her words dripping with sarcasm. “At least we were able to save those children.”
The jab was subtle, but effective. Arnor’s smile faltered for a moment, before he regained his composure. “Yes, well, that was just a matter of time,” he said, waving his hand dismissively. “Anyone could have done that.”
“Best of luck then!” Adira said, her voice dripping with sarcasm, before turning to leave.
Jasper and the team had watched the drama unfold with curiosity in their eyes. As Adira approached them, Adam asked, “You know him?”
Adira’s expression turned sour. “I wish I didn’t,” she commented, her voice laced with frustration.
Alaric’s curiosity was piqued. “Oh? Any specific reason?” he asked, his eyes sparkling with interest.
Adira’s gaze drifted back to Arnor, her eyes narrowing. “He’s my academic rival, and I lost the last case to him too.”
Adam let out a sympathetic cluck. “Tch! What bad luck,” he commented, shaking his head.
Jasper nodded, his expression serious. “Let’s leave,” he said, gesturing to the team.
Together, they turned and walked away, leaving Arnor and the case behind.
